Örzö 2009 Activity Summary (as Word document) Since April of 2009 Templom Orzo has been in existence to raise funds, inform people of up-dates and to research all avenues that might help the parishioners of St. Emeric keep their church. PAST ACTIVITIES v April, 2009 o April 26, 2009: filing for Ohio Articles of Incorporation v May, 2009 o May 24: Initial informational letter to parishioners v June, 2009 o Alignment with Endangered Catholics o Peter Borré meeting on June 27th o Phillip Gray , Canon lawyer meeting on June 22nd v July, 2009 o July 19th meeting with St. Emeric Congregation v August, 2009 o Initial radio broadcast on August 15, 2009: successive broadcasts monthly o Informational mass mailing to parishioners o Activation of website o Contact with Congressman Kucinich o Working on collecting petitions for Rome o Establishment of email contacts to distribute information v September, 2009 o Contact with web-site in Hungary for coverage o Follow-up with Congressman Kucinich o Petitions handed out at the St. Stephen’s Feast celebration o Advisement to group about Ann Barrett Doyle’s presentation on September 19, 2009. o September 6: presence with posters and flyers at annual Scout’s Day in Parma with over 2,000 attendees; petitions accumulated § Over 900 petitions collected and given to Peter Borré, who will carried them to the Vatican. o Sept.26: contact with Ildiko Huber of Columbus, wife of Alex Huber who is President of Columbus Hungarian Cultural Association. v October, 2009 o October 4: emails to community leaders, T.O. parishioners and two radio stations regarding news brief about Dec.9, which is the date the Vatican most recently gave for giving “verdict” on Appeal. o Emailed Daniel Kovacs author of hg.hu. o October 4 Harvest Festival at St. Imre: made announcement regarding mission and requested donations o October 17: went to the meeting with Ray Milano who is supposed to be the attorney for parishioners fighting against the parish. The suit would be founded on the 1899 Mannix case from Cincinnati, Ohio where the question of who owns the parish came up. Supposedly in Ohio, the parishioners own the parish. Problem with financing suit is a real issue. o October 17: Gathering financial data from parish accountant o October 26: sent inquiry to Cathy of USA Today to write article about church closings. o October 26: arranged First Friday prayer session with Sandor Atya. o Oct.28: received notice that the Future Church group will pray for our cause. v November, 2009 v December, 2009 v Starting in December, on every First Friday there will be a one hour devotional from 7-8 p.m. in the church for its future. v Letter to Erdo Peter, Cardinal of Hungary v Contacts with Hungarian press so they can inform the people of what is happening to the Hungarian churches in Cleveland v Liaison with St. Emeric Church Council as to its future v Liaison with other Hungarian religious and cultural groups to gain support and solicit donations v Assessing correct parish % contribution to the Diocese central office with school and without school v January, 2010 o Letter writing campaign
THE FOLLOWING GENERAL ACTIVITIES ARE CONTINUOUS o First Friday there will be a one hour devotional from 7-8 p.m. in the church for its future. o Liaison with Miklos Peller - responsible for Appeal process at St. Emeric o Weekly contact with parishioners at the services and cultural activities o Protesting in front of St. John’s Cathedral on 4th Wednesday of the month o Witness to church closings in various months o Monthly email notices to parishioners and supporters started in November o Continual radio contact with Kapossy and Bocskai radios o Regular Templom Orzo meetings |
