Thank you all for coming and participating
Dear Parishioners and Supporters of St. Emeric Download the letter as a Word doc
This past Sunday,
November 6th, we were able to come together for the second
time since our closing to celebrate our Church’s patron saint.
With Fr. Begin’s blessing and
assistance, Fr. Sandor was with us to celebrate the Mass of the Feast of
St. Emeric. Thank you all
for making it a special Mass; Fr.
Begin for accepting us as a cultural entity; Fr. Sandor for traveling to
be with us; Victor Ba for the readings; the two Haubert angels as altar
boys; John as the Eucharistic minister;
Ildiko with the Bulletin; Miki as organist; our wonderful choir;
Mik Jr., Miklos S. and Joska as ushers.
The already beautiful altar was further adorned by Monika’s
arrangements.
Since it was a
special Sunday, the offertory procession included a gift basket offered
to Fr. Begin by parishioners Kiki and Scott Simpson. Also, the Regos
dancers filed down in costume and Emmi Kertesy, with a bear, represented
both the young and younger generation. Mr.
& Mrs. Pataky of the procession were addressed
at the end of Mass as a tribute to their 50th wedding
anniversary.
After Mass we
celebrated with our first time luncheon. It appeared that the large
number of attendees at Mass also came to celebrate downstairs.
We had approximately 240 registered for the luncheon. Our special
guests included Frs. Bob and Sandor, Sr. Mary Beth and Rita Gaertner,
President of the Church Council.
At the end of the evening we saw the Cleveland Scout Regos
Ensemble perform for us. It
was exciting to see and feel the energy and love they had for their
cultural dance.
However, without
Marika and John Megyimori as the Chefs we could not have had a meal at
all. The flower
arrangements on the table were prepared by Tini Halacsy and Eva.
Set-up was by the Korossy family and Aniko Bogardy.
Finally, I must mention the
Templom Orzo’s listed on the letterhead.
Each one was there helping from the planning stage starting weeks
ago, through the cooking, set-up, serving and clean up.
In addition to their assignments, they immediately jumped in to
solve any problem which came up.
Unfortunately, we were unable to accommodate some special
requests we had on site. We
hope those who asked understand. So many showed up for Mass – our main event- and for the luncheon. There were people there from Hungarian closed churches in Lorain and people who were not Catholic but enjoyed the Hungarian cultural event. It was wonderful to see the hall filled and hear the chatter of friendship, new and old. The event came to an end around 4:30 with Ted, the custodian, assisting us. I hope I have not left anyone out. Some people do not like to be recognized for their help but I truly felt that after Sunday’s event it was necessary to do so. Thank you in indulging me in my free speech.
On behalf of the Templom Orzo’s,
thank you all for coming and participating in the wonderful spiritual
and corporal food we had on Sunday.
We hope to see many of you this Saturday at St. Colman’s
Homecoming and our next Mass on November 20th.
